they were repersented as weak and only shown as hosuewifes who dont work but to clean and make food and are toys for men.
3) How does the heading message ('OMO makes whites bright') and the style of the text promote the product?
It promotes the product by telling womens they want it so that men can get it for them
4) Analyse the mise-en-scene in the advert (CLAMPS): how is costume, make-up and placement of the model used to suggest women's role in society?
costume-shows the towels and clothing telling us that she is working very hard
make-up- she needs too look good back then as if not the man wil leave her for not looking good
placement of the model- shows her haqnging towels and cloths

as its important to recognise the product in the supermarket showing that women did shopping in the 1950s

similar to the british flag- patriotic in years after WW2

Gender stereotypes  this is because it showed us the wife/women doing the cleaning,cooking and shopping.
9) What is the preferred reading for this advert - what did the producers of the advert want the audience to think in 1955?
the preferred reading is that men should buy this for women
10) What is the oppositional reading for this advert - How might a modern audience respond to this text and the representation of women here?
The oppositional reading is thast woemn should not be treated like this(by cooking,cleaning and shopping) and that men shoud atleast so some house hold activity.
